First Grade Happenings​

Math:  This week we will practice discussing math with a partner.  We will practice our math routine:  Try, Discuss, Connect.  We will explore math manipulatives and practice talking about math.
​Language Arts:   
  • Short a
  • Short a nasalized (_an, _am)
Writing:  
  • We will discuss the rules of good writing (capital at beginning of sentence, spaces between words, end mark to end a sentence).
  • We will discuss why people write.
  • We will explore our senses to complete some descriptive writing.

Theme:   How We Organize Ourselves
Title: Conflict and Resolution
Central Idea:  Our voices and actions can create peace or conflict.
Essential Question:  How can we maintain peace at school, at home, and in our community?
Weekly Question:  What are some expectations we can agree upon in our classroom?

Day 4: Art and Spanish

Day 5:  Music and Spanish 


Homework:
  • Reading 
    • The goal is for your child to read 15-20 minutes every night.
  • I-Ready--This is the computer aspect of our math curriculum.  ​It is recommended that your child spend 30-45 minutes weekly on i-ready.  ​​
